Owner-Operated. Every Job.

The Person Detailing Your Car Is the Person Who Answers the Phone

Tedrow's Mobile Detailing is a one-man mobile detailing operation serving southern Westchester County, NY and lower Fairfield County, CT. No crews, no franchises, no handoffs — Shawn Tedrow shows up, does the work, and stands behind it.

The bright red Mini Cooper that started Shawn Tedrow's detailing career before founding Tedrow's Mobile Detailing in Westchester County NY Where It Started

It Started With My Mom's Honda Civic

When I got my first car — a bright red Mini Cooper — my mom was still driving a beaten-up Honda Civic. That didn't sit right with me. She'd spent years making me feel special, and I wanted her car to feel special too.

So I got to work with what I had: Dawn dish soap, a kitchen sponge, a bucket, and a bath towel.

For the record — none of those four things will ever touch your car. My tools and tactics have improved considerably since then. But the reason I was out in that driveway hasn't changed: seeing someone get into a car that suddenly feels new again, and knowing you're the one who did that.

From Borrowed Hoses to Fully Mobile

When I first turned detailing into a business, I ran it the way most mobile detailers start out — working in customers' driveways using their water spigot and an extension cord through the garage door. It worked, but it meant I could only take jobs where the setup cooperated.

Today, Tedrow's Mobile Detailing is fully self-contained, fully licensed, and fully insured. Water, power, products, lighting — everything travels with me, which means I can deliver the same result in a driveway in Scarsdale, a parking garage in Stamford, or an office lot in Greenwich. You provide the car. I bring everything else.

The other thing that's stayed constant from that first Honda Civic: I'd rather teach you something than sell you something. Every job comes with straight answers about proper protection, what cleaning chemicals actually do, and how to keep the results between visits — because a customer who understands their car makes better decisions than one who's just handed an invoice.

How I Work

Most detailing complaints come down to one thing: nobody explained what the service could and couldn't do. So that's where every job starts here.

Honest Expectations First

If a stain is permanent, I'll tell you before I start — not after you've paid. If your paint needs correction rather than a wash and wax, you'll hear that upfront. You'll never be sold a result I can't deliver.

Educate, Then Detail

You don't need to know what paint decontamination means to book with me — explaining it is my job. Every service page on this site is written so a first-time customer knows exactly what they're paying for. Start with what detailing actually is if you're new to this.

One Set of Hands

There's no B-team on a busy Saturday. The person who quoted your job is the person doing your job — same standards, same products, same attention on a minivan as on a Porsche.

What's in the Van

"Fully mobile" gets thrown around a lot in this industry. Here's what it actually means at Tedrow's — and why I don't need anything from you except the car.

Water On Board

My own water supply travels with me. No spigot, no hose access, no problem — which is why I can work in parking garages and condo lots where most mobile detailers can't.

Power On Board

Self-supplied power runs everything from the pressure washer to the polisher. Your extension cord stays in the garage.

Professional Lighting

Swirl marks and missed spots hide in bad light. Dedicated detailing lights mean the work gets inspected the way it should be — not by whatever the sun is doing that day.

Deep Extraction

Interior stains and odors don't come out with a shop vac. Extraction equipment pulls contamination up from inside carpet and upholstery fibers, not just off the surface.

Pro-Grade Chemicals

The right product for each surface — paint-safe soaps, iron removers, leather-specific cleaners, ceramic coatings. Nothing from the automotive aisle at the grocery store. (I learned that lesson on my mom's Civic.)

Everything Insured

Full business licensing and insurance coverage for your vehicle and your property while I work. It's the least exciting thing in the van, and the most important.

Questions People Ask Before Booking

Who actually shows up to my appointment?
Me — Shawn, the owner. There are no crews, subcontractors, or rotating technicians. The person who quotes your job is the person who does your job, every time.
Do you need my water or power?
No. Everything is self-contained — water, power, lighting, and equipment all travel on board. You don't need a spigot, an outlet, or even a driveway. That's what makes it possible to work in parking garages, office lots, and condo communities across Westchester and Fairfield County.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — fully licensed and fully insured. Your vehicle and your property are covered while I work.
Do I need a driveway?
No. Because the setup is fully self-contained, I can work anywhere the vehicle can be legally and safely parked — driveways, parking garages, workplace lots, and apartment or condo parking areas.
Do you detail year-round?
Yes. Interior detailing runs in any weather. Exterior work depends on temperature and conditions — if the forecast would compromise the result, I'll tell you upfront and we'll reschedule rather than deliver work I can't stand behind. More on how the seasons affect your car in seasonal car care.
How do I book?
Call or text 914-451-0786, or book online. Either way you're talking to the owner, and you'll get honest answers about whether a service is the right fit before anything gets scheduled.

Where I Work

Mobile car detailing across fourteen communities in southern Westchester County, New York and lower Fairfield County, Connecticut. I know these towns — the brake dust from the parkways, the tree sap in the older neighborhoods, the salt air near the Sound — because I'm in them every week.

Questions Before You Book?

Call or text and you'll get the owner, not a call center. I'd rather answer your questions honestly than book a job that isn't the right fit.
