Exterior Reset
A deeper exterior reset for vehicles that have gone beyond what a standard wash can fix — heavier buildup, embedded contamination, and neglected surfaces, properly addressed.
When a Standard Wash
Isn't Enough Anymore
Most vehicles reach a point where routine washing stops keeping up. Contamination embeds into the paint, buildup clings to trim and wheels, and the vehicle never quite feels clean. That's what this service is designed to fix.
Over time, heavy buildup, sticky contamination, road film, neglected surfaces, bug residue, and environmental exposure gradually change how a vehicle looks and feels. Even after a normal wash, the vehicle may still feel dirty, dull, or difficult to fully clean.
Road film builds along lower panels. Wheels accumulate heavy brake dust. Sticky residue collects around trim and emblems. Contamination embeds into the paint. Seasonal exposure slowly degrades the feel of the entire vehicle.
Signature Exterior Reset is designed for vehicles that have reached that point. As part of our full car detailing service, the goal isn't perfection or full paint correction — it's resetting the vehicle to a noticeably cleaner, healthier, more refreshed condition.
Every Step of
the Reset Process
What Makes This
a Reset, Not a Wash
The difference between this service and a standard exterior detail is in the steps that go beyond washing — and the order they happen in.
Wheels & Wells First
Heavy brake dust, road grime, and caked buildup are removed from wheel barrels, wells, and surrounding areas before touching the paint. Starting here prevents contamination from spreading back onto clean surfaces.
Snow Foam Pre-Soak
A pH-neutral snow foam is applied across all exterior surfaces to encapsulate and lift road film and loose contamination before any contact with the paint. This is what makes a safe hand wash possible on neglected vehicles.
Multi-Bucket Hand Wash
A thorough top-to-bottom hand wash with dedicated wash and rinse buckets, separate mitts for upper and lower panels, and extra attention to lower panels, badges, trim edges, grilles, and contamination-prone areas.
Paint Decontamination
Unlike a standard wash, this step addresses what's bonded to the paint surface. Iron fallout remover dissolves embedded metallic particles. Clay bar treatment removes sticky bonded contamination that washing alone cannot lift. The result is paint that feels noticeably smoother. Learn more about paint decontamination →
Jamb Reset & Detail Work
Door jambs, trunk jambs, and fuel door areas are cleaned thoroughly — removing accumulated grease, dust, and residue that builds up in hidden areas and affects the overall feel of the vehicle.
Protection Application
Once the surface is properly cleaned and decontaminated, sealant protection is applied to improve gloss, repel future contamination, and make follow-up cleaning significantly easier.
Reset vs Essentials
Both are thorough exterior services — but they're designed for different vehicle conditions.
Exterior Essentials
Best for vehicles already in manageable condition — normal road film, lighter contamination, and routine upkeep. Thorough cleaning and short-term protection without moving into restorative processes.
Starting at $100.

When Westchester
Vehicles Need a Reset
Seasonal exposure in Westchester creates predictable buildup patterns. Understanding when to reset helps protect the vehicle before damage compounds.
Spring Reset
After winter, vehicles carry road salt, brine residue, heavy road film, and embedded contamination from months of exposure. Spring is the most important time to reset — removing that buildup before it causes long-term damage to the paint and lower panels.
Summer Exposure
UV exposure, bug residue, tree sap, pollen, and bird droppings accumulate quickly in warmer months. Vehicles parked under trees or in outdoor lots often develop heavier contamination that bonds to the paint during heat cycling.
Fall Preparation
Fall is the ideal time to reset and protect before winter arrives again. A properly decontaminated surface allows sealant or ceramic protection to bond more effectively — giving the vehicle a better foundation heading into harsh conditions.

Enhancements
Because the paint has already been cleaned and decontaminated, this service creates a strong foundation for additional protection, refinement, or restoration.
Ceramic Coating
Once the surface is properly reset and decontaminated, many owners add long-term ceramic protection. Reduces contamination adhesion, improves hydrophobic performance, and simplifies future cleaning. Learn more →
Paint Correction
Vehicles with heavier swirl marks, oxidation, or haze may benefit from paint correction after the reset. Focuses on deeper refinement and restoring gloss and clarity. Learn more →
Glass Coating
Pairs well with any exterior service — improves wet-weather visibility and makes glass easier to maintain. Especially useful heading into rainy seasons or winter. Learn more →
Trim Restoration
For faded, chalky, or weathered exterior trim that standard dressings can't permanently improve. A more restorative solution for heavily faded plastics. Learn more →
Engine Bay Cleaning
Completes the overall reset feeling of the vehicle. Removing accumulated dust, debris, and buildup from the engine bay creates a cleaner, more restored appearance throughout.
Monthly Maintenance
After a reset, many clients set up recurring maintenance visits to keep the vehicle in good condition without letting buildup return. Learn more →
